Working a project at his/her local bouldering field, our hero takes a fall that breaks their pinky finger. After this devastation, the future looks bleak and dim. With nationals around the corner, the journey to rehabilitation and success is a long and tenacious road.

With inspiring action and training montages, our athlete grows from being unable to shake someone's hand without extreme pain, to having the strength of a thousand gorillas and doing single pinky pull-ups.

Day of the comp: tensions are high, commentators note on the atmosphere in the room. Our athlete progresses through multiple rounds with ease, only to fall down holding their hand as if this injury has reappeared. The crowd gasps as they watch in awe. Going off to the side with their trainer, they wrap the pinky up, hoping that the pain and injury don't progress further.

As he/she approaches the final boulder, making the difference between silver and gold, silence comes over the room. They begin to climb, slowly, carefully, with focus and intensity. The last move is a huge dyno. They make an enormous lunge towards the finishing hold and grab on with one hand. As they swing backwards, fingers start to slip off one by one, until our hero is left holding on with a single injured pinky. They hold on long enough to get their other hand on the hold! They win the gold!
